As soon as the Definite Major Purpose for the horse business was determined, keyword research resulted in our target phrases being Roping Horses and Barrel Horses.

As soon as the Namgis keyword phrases were chosen, the primary domain, NamgisQuarterHorses.com, was made active.

Do Not put an 'under construction' sign on your site. Provide copy on the site that describes what you do, why your business is different than your competitors, and what products/services your website will provide.

Supporting sites NamgisBarrelHorses.com and NamgisRopingHorses.com that target specific keyword phrases were also immediately implemented and linked to the the primary domain, NamgisQuarterHorses.com.

Development began on all three sites. The sites being worked on are not available to the public. The placeholder sites describing your business are made available to the public, and more importantly, the search engines. However, it is not a good idea to make sites undergoing development available, as things change on them to often, and they tend to be buggy until they are finalized.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.ranchforeman.com/current-project/2009/10/19/defining-a-business-image.html"><rss:title>Defining a Business Image</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.ranchforeman.com/current-project/2009/10/19/defining-a-business-image.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

During The Introduction it is important to not only understand the Definite Major Purpose of the horse business, but also the unique characteristics of both the owner and the business. These characteristics should be heavily leaned upon when developing the image for the business.

In the case of Namgis Quarter Horses, the operation had a fantastic new facility. It calls the rolling country just West of San Antonio home and so the facility was developed atop the rolling countryside.

Having a very nice facility is fantastic. Operating just south of the Texas Hill Country is also a nice plus. Breeding a horse like Bucks Hancock Dude will undoubtedly be an advantage in the horse industry. Here's the big reveal regarding differentiation in the horse industry:

The nice facility is a plus.

The location is a plus.

The proven stallion is a must.

NONE of these items will help distinguish one horse business from another.

We are fortunate to be working with a business professional who understands the importance of the Business Image - the Brand. Stan Sigman has made our job easier by installing an eclipse windmill at his facility.

Beginning the identity development with imagery like this makes a job significantly easier. However, it doesn't stop there.

Getting to know Mr. Sigman allowed us to become aware of his passion for the western heritage. Also, he is very active and desires a youthful vibrant feel for Namgis Quarter Horses. The colors used in the design should reflect that vibrant culture Namgis Quarter Horses exemplifies.

Below are the first set of logos we delivered:

After studying each logo and soliciting feedback from family, prospective clients and industry professionals, it was decided that the last logo in this list would be the focus of our direction.

Through the revisions process, the final logo eventually became what you see below:

Your logo should accomplish three things:

Identify what you do QUICKLY.

Establish a brand you aim to promote.

Differentiate you in an effort to be remembered easily.

(1)
The final logo we created for Namgis Quarter Horses identifies the business quickly as a Horse Business that specializes in the American Quarter Horse.

(2)
Mr. Sigman is developing the next great bloodline of roping and barrel racing horses. This bloodline is his product and will be known as the Namgis bloodline. Therefore, Namgis is the brand name for Stan Sigman's product. The logo establishes that brand name quickly.

(3)
The final logo also uses colors and imagery in ways to implant the identity in the minds of the people who see it. It then becomes immediately recognizable in the future. In fact, those who have seen the logo will immediately draw the connection between it and the facility if they ever get the chance to attend an event at Namgis Quarter Horses. The operation reinforces the logo and vice versa.

Helpful Tip
You, your specialty, your facility or your product should reinforce your logo. And your logo should reinforce whatever is reinforcing it in order to gain maximum benefit from creating an image for your horse business.

(1) We are introducing you to Namgis Quarter Horses. (2) The first step in any project is for our team to be introduced to the horse business.

In any relationship the introduction comes first. What is important?

Well, a good first impression is nice. A friendly atmosphere is always a positive sign even in a professional setting. However, there is one thing that is most important when introducing yourself to a new project:

Value. Value is in the Definite Major Purpose for the horse business.

Mr. Stan Sigman, formerly of AT&T Mobility, was returning to his roots. Mr. Sigman was raised in North Texas and enjoyed rodeoing growing up - calf roping in particular.

It was time for him to retire, but only from AT&T. Stan had big plans for continuing his work in business, but now it's the horse business.

Our task is to develop the brand around Namgis Quarter Horses. We will also design and host the website. Future responsibilities may include public relations for events, print materials, etc.

Back to the task at hand: We have to find the A1, super important, primo reason for Stan to even have a horse business. Yes, he will raise horses, train horses, sell horses, host events at the new facility, etc.

BUT, the first step to having a successful horse business is to know what equals success. If you don't know which direction is North, it's pretty hard to travel that way. Even if you are going in the right direction, there's no way to know. That's why the first step is to always Define the Major Purpose for Your Horse Business.

After a very enjoyable conversation with Mr. Sigman during which we explored his reasons for entering the horse business and his criteria for declaring success, we sat down in the office and wrote down the Definite Major Purpose of Namgis Quarter Horses:

Namgis Quarter Horses will produce the next highly sought after roping and barrel racing horse bloodline while hosting high profile, philanthropic roping and barrel racing events.

</rss:item></rdf:RDF>
